The restaurant was a bit chaotic with some people standing around waiting for seats when we got in, but we eventually found a table. Like the outlet in SG, you pay for your meal at the counter and it gets delivered to you not too long after.
Ayam penyet turned out to be more like puyuh penyet (i.e. quail rather than chicken!) - portion was smaller than expected.

We couldn't really complain as it was a cheap and quick meal. Although the penyet at Lucky Plaza SG is bigger and somehow tastier, must say I prefer the sambal here. It is a lot more tolerable and therefore enjoyable than the one in SG. Still spicy though, just not numbingly so! Was a tiny tiny piece of chicken! Think it was definitely pigeon ... regardless, it was a lot oilier than the SG version, but the meat a lot softer and probably penyet-ed and fried till much of the bones were soft enough to eat. The chilli was better too, not as a satan-ly hot as the SG version and a more liao inside like onions and stuff.
One other thing to note is this restaurant isn't very clean, especially the floors. Food bits are wiped away from the tables onto the floors and then left there for a couple of minutes before being swept away. If you're particular about these kind of things, then this isn't quite the place for you!
Rating (out of 4): (1 paw off for hygiene factors)
Ayam Penyet Ria in Nagoya Hill is my favourite eating place whenever I am in Batam. I am planning to go there on Oct 26 which is Hari Raya Haji. I would like to know if the restaurant is is open for business on that day. Can someone advise, please?

Kamis 12 marc 2020. 13.10 wib.
