Quiznos, Icon Village

Quiznos is one of my go-to places for a sandwich that I know will be semi-cheap and awesome. No surprises, no frills, their soups are great, sandwiches are yummy, cookies are not bad, and only slightly more expensive than Subway.

The closest one to both our work places is Icon Village at Tanjong Pagar - which until a short while ago became one of our favourite after work hangouts. This place however, suffers from dreadfully yellow lighting which makes most photos have a strange orangey hue. Photos were color corrected in photoshop to our best (not very good) ability.

I ordered the mesquite chicken on brown bread, with a side of double chocolate cookie and a small drink. My 6-inch sub was a drool-worthy culmination of chicken chunks, cheddar, two slices of tomatoes and generous sprinkling of shredded lettuce. The ranch dressing was not immediately identifiable but the entire sandwich was still very good when dipped into dijon horseradish sauce (see below).

I had the spicy beef and cheddar. I tried once before and since then have never looked back - this is my favourite sandwich in Quiznos. Completely thrashing Subway's steak and cheese, Quiznos' version was almost purely steak, and cheese with nothing else distracting the taste of the sandwich. Steak slightly charred, cheese melty, and adding more dijon mustard and pickled peppers makes it all the more awesome. Sometimes you can get cheesy breads which makes it even yummier.

One of our favourite things to do is gorge on the peppers dipped in dijon horseradish. They have four kinds of peppers which you can help yourself with - spicy jalapenos are our favourite and the juicy pop of the peppers when you bite into them with the sweet spicy sauce gives you a powerful slap to the face. In a good way.
